LAMMA: & # 39; pieces of material flew from the main hall & # 39;
Orgainser of the canceled LAMMA show in the East of England Arena said they had no choice but to cancel the event.
The show brings thousands of people from all over the country to the city, both as exhibitors and visitors.
But after a strong wind last night, the last day of the show was canceled this morning.
Now the organizers have said that they have no choice but to cancel the event.
Elisabeth Mork-Eidem, Event Director said, "We received a series of questions about the decisions made this morning, which regrettably led to the cancellation of the second day of LAMMA 2018. As you can understand, our team was having a very difficult one Face the situation, but I hope the following will explain some of the process that was pursued.
"The weather forecast was for strong winds overnight, but as was usually the case, it was not possible to gauge exactly the magnitude To know the duration or direction of the worst storm. It was also predicted that the worst weather would occur between 4 o'clock in the morning and 7 in the morning before the start of the show.
"Additional work has been done to provide improved weather resistance, especially for the larger structures, and a series of contingency plans have been prepared – which were implemented this morning.
" The LAMMA surgical team was All night on site monitoring the winds, and extreme gusts were recorded between about 4 and 6 o'clock. While it was very difficult to assess the initial damage in the dark, it was clear before 6 am that we could not open the spot before the wind abated. Previously, it was not safe for people to be on-site and out-of-vehicle. There were also pieces of material that came out of the main hall when the wind was highest.
"It was far from perfect, but we decided that we could leave the exhibitors for security reasons only in Halls 1 and 2 and in the halls of the conference suites and not on the rest of the website.
" Once the Wind was abating, we conducted a systematic review of the site to determine the extent of the damage as quickly as possible. Only after all halls and larger stands had been checked for structural integrity could one penetrate to assess the internal damage.
"As many of you have seen, there has been considerable damage to the site, and due to the nature of the exhibition grounds, it is not possible to separate areas, and if the site is insecure, it will not be possible to open the site to the public We also realized that there was a lot of traffic issues because of the visitors' support, so we made the unfortunate decision to close the show.
"All health and safety decisions were made and we all have Efforts are made to minimize injury to contractors, employees, exhibitors or the public. We thank you for your understanding and patience this morning.
"Our priority now must be to clear the site safely and rest assured that we will answer all questions as soon as this is completed."
